Hello to everyone reading this! I'm Benedict Chan, currently in my final year of studying Computer Engineering at the National University of Singapore. With graduation around the corner, I figured it was a good time to create a space where I can share more about myself. So here we are - a place for my personal portfolio and maybe even turn it into a bit of a life diary along the way.

I have to admit that this project started off with a very straightforward goal: to pick up some front-end development skills. So far, my work and academic interests have mostly revolved around fields like Computer Vision and Autonomous Robotics. But I figured as a prospective software engineer, it is apt to pick up some basic front-end knowledge. Plus, this gives me a chance to create a personal portfolio—something that feels a bit more “me” compared to LinkedIn.

But as I got deeper into this, I realized I did not want my personal page to just be about my work and projects. I also wanted to showcase the other side of myself that would represent a more "complete" me. Photography has been a long-time passion of mine but I never really had the right place to share my pictures. Instagram is okay but things get buried pretty quickly and I wanted a more permanent platform to showcase some of my favourite shots.

Since I’m already building this space, why not go a step further and add a section where I can pen down my random thoughts right? My brain is always on overdrive, and things can get pretty cluttered. By writing it out, I hope to gain some clarity, and maybe even improve my writing in the process.

Plus, who knows? Maybe some of the things I’m thinking about will pique your interest too, and we can have some cool conversations about them. I’m always curious to hear other perspectives!
